Donation Made To STAR10 Jun. 2015
1st Franklin Financial Corporation recently made a donation of $35,000 to the Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR). Each year, 1st Franklin looks for ways to support the communities where their office branches are located.
How This Donation Helps
STAR serves special needs children who have physical, learning, or behavioral disabilities through caring for the horses and their associated equipment.
Children with physical disabilities benefit from horse-riding by making use of muscles that they might not otherwise use and, in return, gain some relief from their chronic pain. Veterans who have returned from war with physical disabilities are also welcome at STAR as the organization helps these wounded warriors redevelop lost motor skills while addressing potential psychological issues they may be suffering from.
