Donation Made to Warrior Bonfire Program

warrior-bonfire-programRecently, 1st Franklin Financial Corporation made a donation of $50,000 to the Warrior Bonfire Program in Clinton, MS.

The Warrior Bonfire Program caters to Purple Heart Veterans through a communication therapy system. The program arrange trips comprised of small groups of veterans throughout the year to various parts of the country. The veterans are encouraged to speak about their experiences and the difficulties they have faced when dealing with the trauma of war. The organization receives no Federal or State funding, relying solely on donations to serve over 120 Purple Heart Veterans in their care.

Each year, 1st Franklin Financial looks for ways to support local organization in and around their branch office communities.

How This Donation Helps

Food For the Soul (FFS) serves free home-cooked lunches four days a week to anyone in need. Since opening in December 2010, the establishment has been able to provide nearly 65,000 meals to residents of Kershaw County, averaging 50-75 meals per day.

These machines provide instant results in regards to a child’s need for glasses and then can be paired with a local optometrist for discounted exams and fitted with glasses. The donation from 1st Franklin Financial will allow the Lions Club to extend into other surrounding counties.

How This Donation Helps

Homes of Hope for Children is a children’s home that houses fourteen children, seven boys and seven girls. The facility’s clients live in cottages with house parents, attend public school, and church with a focus on keeping siblings together and not separated. These clients come to the home from recommendations of school counselors, ministers, teachers, and MDHS as a result of neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Home for Children receive no federal or state funding and are in the process of trying to build additional cottages as to house more children.
