1st Franklin Financial Title Sponsor for T-Shirts for Turkeys

For the fifth year in a row, 1st Franklin Financial was the Title Sponsor for The Joy FM’s (FM 91.5) T-Shirts for Turkeys, a promotion which helps to fill up food pantries that provide a holiday meal for hungry families. This year the radio station kicked off its annual T-Shirts for Turkeys promotion on November 14th, and with the help of 1st Franklin, generous listeners, and other sponsors, thousands of people sat down to a holiday meal.

During the annual T-shirts for Turkeys promotion the radio station collected over 5,000 turkeys in the form of frozen turkeys or “paper turkeys” (cash or checks). During a 4-day period, November 14th through 17th. There were 12 live, on-air “Turkey Stops” at area Chick-fil-As, which included the presence of 1st Franklin employees.

Jerry Brannon, spokesperson for the event, said: “For five consecutive years, T-Shirts for Turkeys has been made possible by the generous partners at First Franklin Financial. Without their financial support we could not bring this opportunity to our listeners. Their support at each of our events means a lot as they come out every year to support The JOY FM, and the local Food Banks.”

This year’s holiday drive was timed one week prior to Thanksgiving provided a holiday meal for the homeless, hungry and those who are less fortunate. The promotion served 10 different local organizations in 11 different counties, who feed the hungry during the upcoming holiday season.

The JOY FM is a network of non-commercial, listener-supported contemporary Christian music stations serving Metro Atlanta, Middle Georgia, & East Alabama since 2011. It is owned by Radio Training Network, and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization.

Since 1941 home offices for 1st Franklin Financial Corporation have remained in Toccoa, Georgia. The company’s original goal is still in operation—to serve the financial needs of friends and neighbors with respect and personal service. Today, 1st Franklin has 308 loan offices in six states, and it continues to provide investment options and personal loans along with retail sales financing.

How This Donation Helps

Dee Norton Low Country Children’s Center (DNLCC) has been helping children who have suffered from child abuse and trauma for 25 years, one child at a time. Children and families are provided a safe, child-friendly place to turn when there is a concern about abuse while receiving support and assistance such as forensic interviews, medical examinations and mental health assessments.

How This Donation Helps

The Holston United Methodist Home for Children is a children’s home that takes in orphans and children whose parents or guardians are not able to care for them properly due to behavioral issues. The ministry of Holston Home was started in 1895 when a single woman took a step of faith and founded an orphanage in Northeast Tennessee. The home has grown to serve as many as 325 children simultaneously while being raised and educated in a Christian environment.

While Holston does receive state funding, the organization relies heavily on contributions and local churches to continue their mission.

1st Franklin Financial Corporation has made a donation of $50,000 to the Regional Rehabilitation Center as part of their annual local charity contributions. Each year, the 1st Franklin Financial team seeks ways to support communities were branch offices are located.

How This Donation Helps

The Regional Rehabilitation Center is a nonprofit facility providing rehabilitation services to people of all ages and at absolutely no cost. The organization provides speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, audiology services, dyslexia, and early intervention services to their patients. These services require a budget of more than a million dollars each year and are funded solely through donations. The donation from 1st Franklin Financial will help add an additional speech therapist to their staff and cover some costs of a recent facility remodel.
